Labour European candidates come to Brixton

The European Parliament elections came to Brixton on Friday 25th April. London Region Labour European candidates Andrea Biondi, Sanchia Alasia and Kamaljeet Jandu were all in attendance, along with Coldharbour councillors Donatus Anyanwu and Matt Parr and Ferndale councillors Paul McGlone and Sally Prentice, ensuring we were Labour 'loud' with placards, newspapers and leaflets to raise the flag and escort our candidates around.

Lambeth's Labour organiser James Goldstone and London Labour Region office staff joined us as we walked through the iconic Brixton Market, meeting residents and store owners. The mood was very good natured, if combined with some baffled looks given our 'road show'!

It would be fair to say awareness of the elections was low, and there were many non-Lambeth residents. But it was all good publicity and our European candidates do like to talk!

We then moved on to a canvassing session across the road in Ferndale ward in the area around Brighton Terrace, SW9. Always a bit tricking canvassing during the day but we still made a healthy number of contacts and raised the profile of both the Local and European elections on 22nd May. Onward Labour!
